There’s more to being a writer than money

I’ve been in somewhat of a creative rut for the past six months or so. I’ve had a lot on in my personal life, and it has affected my creativity. I’ve been trying to take my career to the next level, and so have tried to refine a marketing strategy.

Something along the lines of:

  • Publish on Medium 2x per week
  • Pull trending ideas from social media and write corresponding blogs
  • Continuously check Google Trends and Google Keywords for new blog ideas
  • Create a publication on Medium
  • Start utilizing my mailing list by sending a weekly newsletter
  • Create a freebie to attract new subscribers
  • Post on LinkedIn twice per month
  • Write ebooks to publish on Amazon and my website

The usual.

But there was a big issue with this marketing strategy.

For lack of better words, it’s fucking boring.

It’s a lifeless, loveless marketing strategy. There’s no mission, drive, or enthusiasm. It’s replicating everything that every wannabe…
